Sneaky Preview!

In the interest of sanity – since Jenn M and I will be moving this weekend, I’m posting the playlist PRE-class. This is the second mix made by DJ Disc Jockey Liz Mason. In case you didn’t know – Liz is VIP, MVP status – she’s never missed a class! And she designed our sweet flyers! Three cheers for Liz!

I’ve been listening to this mix while I pack up, and let me tell ya – it’s a goodie!

DJ Alliecat + New Sound System = ROCK

We reached a new record tonight – TWENTY sweaty ladies dancing like there IS a tomorrow (and it’s unbelievably good). Despite moments of speaker malfunction, the sound was nice and heavy tonight – you could feel it, and it felt like hot pudding.
So we look forward to Wednesdays being so pumped full of hot pudding that Augustus Gloop will be tearing down the door. Awww yeah. And Allison (aka DJ Alliecat) made a mix for the record books…anytime you include 2 Arcade Fire songs on one mix, I’m a happy lady. See what we heard below:

Late in the Evening, Paul Simon
Just Like Heaven, The Cure
Big Time Sensuality, Bjork
Chick Habit, April March
Miserlou, Dick Dale
Bizarre Love Triangle, New Order
West End Girls, Pet Shop Boys
Open Your Heart, Madonna
I Want You Back, Jackson 5
Let’s Go Crazy, Prince
Get Ur Freak On, Missy Elliott
Bad Reputation, Joan Jett

DDPP 8/8 the magic number according to nuclear physics. Looks like we had double the magic

a magic number is a number of nucleons (either protons or neutrons) such that they are arranged into complete shells within the atomic nucleus. The seven known magic numbers as of 2007 are: 2, 8, 20, 28, 50, 82, 126. We hit a a magic number tonight on the dance floor. The way I look at it, we were a bunch of protons and neutrons dancing around and coming out of our shells. Too bad we didn’t have the neutron dance or the magic number song on our play list. One thing is for sure however… DJ Bran had a lot to clap about this time around. In fact, so did just about everybody. We called this the night of spontaneous clapping and rightfully so. The music had the beat. Punk, rock, 80s, soul, dance….you name it, we couldn’t contain it. We let go, we danced our faces off, and our energy created so much heat that someone shouted, “Is the air on in here”? The air was definitely on and there was some magic mixed in.

Liquid Magma Beats

Take a generous helping of toe tapping, add a wad of booty-shaking, a pinch of throwing your hands in the air (like you just don’t care) and a LAVA LAMP PROJECTOR and you have yourself the recipe for AWESOME! This week’s DDPP Chicago style was a hot, fun, sticky one. D-J-Bran (c’est moi) hit the ipod hard with some funky beats from the days of hip-hop’s past – which strangely provided the perfect context for Belinda Carlisle. Don’t ask me how cuz I just don’t know. It worked!

Here’s the playlist if you want to know the name of that one song that made you approach bliss:
