Clap Your Hands Everybody…If You Got What It Takes

This week’s class was noteworthy on a number of levels. Allow me to enumerate in bullet point form:

  • We used an ipod shuffle (a first! It worked!) for DJ KikiBizzo’s sweatacular mix
  • One of our esteemed regulars showed such commitment to DDPP – that even in the face of financial hardship – she paid for class with rolls of pennies. No joke.
  • I clapped so hard my hands nearly bled during the this part: Ma Ma se, Ma ma sa, ma ma coo sa Ma ma se, ma ma sa,
Ma ma coo sa of Mr. Jackson’s “Wanna Be Starting Somethin”. You know it. You love it.
  • And there was a reprise of “I need a hero” – which is quite possibly the best song ever made. The jury is still out.

So yeah – class pretty much ruled. I sweat off the beer and mac and cheese I ate directly after class – at least I think. Liz – I think I walked 72 football fields worth. I earned it. Yesss!

Ok – here’s Kelly’s fantastical mix! The scissors sisters have some tricks up their sleeves, my lord – that song could rouse the dead!

Get up and boogie…..

DDPP 9/19..Did I hear a 9..er in there? Tonight we got up and boogied, and kept it going strong the whole way through. Heavy dance beats, with a little Electric Light Orchestra in there…not to mention a little visit from Russia. That’s right, we were dancin’ Russian Techno style. No matter what anybody says, it’s still rock n’ roll to us. Keep it comin’ ladies. Spread the word.

Uninhibited Exuberance!

I think it’s safe to say we all had borderline-illegal amounts of fun tonight. I’m sure in some cultures, we all could have/should have been arrested for our unabashed displays of joyfulness.

If I may reflect on the evening, my favorite moment was during “Holding Out For A Hero” when without a word, we collectively knew somehow to form a runway for leaping, cartwheels, high kicks and other feats of bodily greatness. The moves were performed with such confidence and vigor, that I think we all graduated to a new level of greatness. Thank you for that – it bumped up an awesome class into a bona fide happening.

It was my supreme pleasure (D-J-Bran) to have served you up that hot, steaming pile of mix.

Here’s what we heard:

Spanky-licious

DJ Lalee had an excellent showing here in round 2 with a mix that ran the gamut from hot to melting your booty off. We had a great turn-out, too! So great that we might have to start doing a Sunday class! It’s getting too crowded for my flailing limbs (which is a move that is going to catch on soon, I’m sure).

Only one major glitch in the speaker situation tonight. I promise to try and fix that action ASAP! Thanks for everyone’s understanding.

Keep spreading the love and word! Here’s what Lalee had for us tonight:
