They’re baaaaack… DDPP SUNDAYS!

Sundays. They’re not just for laundry anymore.

Here’s a friendly reminder that starting THIS SUNDAY – NOVEMBER 2 – Dance Dance Party Party is back in action!

And here to fearlessly lead you into all your Sunday revelry are our two new DDPP Den Mothers! Kelly Vanater and Kelley Clink.

The Jenns will run Wednesdays, the Kell(e)ys will run Sundays. So if you ever want to start up another day of DDPP – just find someone with your first name and we’ll talk… ;)

And don’t forget the new time changes!
DDPP WILL BE 1 HOUR LONG

You asked for it! We listened! DDPP will start at these new times:
WEDNESDAYS: 7pm (sharp!) – 8pm (sharp!)
SUNDAYS: 4pm (sharp!) – 5pm (sharp!)
We’ll still have the studio open for 15 minutes beforehand – so get there early, get your chat on and get ready to rock! We’ll now be starting with a warm up song, too. Woo woo!

And now that we have two times to rock every week, why not sign up to DJ? Shoot us an email (ddppchicago{at}gmail{dot}com) and we’ll get you on the calendar! We welcome new mixes, old mixes, new takes on old mixes, and everything in between.

Holla!

We Did the Mash…

We did the mooooooonster mash!

As the Phillies were working on world baseball domination, and as Obama was addressing the nation on every network station, we at DDPP took a break from all competitive arenas and practiced gyration.  Like, the MF Monster Mash, yo. And it caught on in a flash… unlike this wacky thwacky matching action game below. P.S. Parker Brothers – anytime you put “Thwacky” in a game title, um….

DJ Agent N was our provider of tunage for the pre-Hallow’s Eve Eve. And it was like she brought home a big ol buffet of Halloween candy for a room full of hungry 3rd graders. We gobbled up all the sweet treat beats she offered and experienced in song, the time-honored and wildly addictive sugar rush and crash (ahh – to be young)!

And many thanks to Agent N for providing much more than the standard goodies in our pillow cases! Instead of bible pamphlets and stale mini-packs of raisins, we got vintage treats like “The Freaks Come Out At Night” and obscure nibbles like “Mexican Radio”! I’m sure I’m not alone when I say – if the next dentist visit is bad news, I don’t regret a single thing. Not. a. thing.

Behold! Le Playlist!

DJ Nick Nack Paddy Whack did not lack…..

So I’d like to thank NNPW for taking us back to our Electric Youth…well maybe just my electric youth.  I used to love hair bands when I was in 5th grade. Yep you read that right…Motley Crew, G & R, Poison, Skidrow. Uh Huh. And then there was Debbie Gibson..the only female singer that I really listened to during that period. Weird but true. Nick Nack Paddy Whack brought me back to fifth grade, and the other songs probably brought every lady in the room back to a certain period in their lives. Sometimes we have to revisit our past to see how far we’ve come. All I know, is we played Part-Time Lover twice by request! I guess that makes us full time lover’s. Aww yeah, Nick Nack Paddy Whack. Jenn B would have been so excited to dance to one of her favorites: Holding out for a Hero. Don’t you worry Jenny B, we did plenty of split leaping and thrashing for you. And then there was Step by Step. Need I say more other than our rockin’ DJ’s moves must have been inspired by her recent concert to the New Kids Concert. That must have been amazing and scary at the same time.  Again, thanks for bringing us back, girl. Keep it comin’.

L-Boogie 1 Style

We apologize for the delay in getting this playlist up! Both Jenns were in New York last week and did not get on the kom-poo-tur for a good few days, so yeah.

Lubna was the lovely DJ for last Wednesday! Although we were only there in spirit, my intuitive powers nudge me to think this was a most excellent class – complete with sweating, smiling and fist-pumping (and did someone do a few leaps there? My crystal ball thinketh yesh). Thanks to DJ L-Boogie for throwing down a hearty mix just right for fall. If you missed it or you just loved it and wanna see it again – here she be:

Who could it be? Believe it or not… it’s just MEEEEEEE!

DJ Rudy Toot made some magic happen last night on the d-floor. How did she do it? With a fistful of funk and a sprinkle of soul.

Her playlist was packed solid with boogie-downs, hoedowns, touch-downs and down-to-the-grounds (aka music that inspired myself and others to collapse to the floor on a number of occasions). This was a 100% original effort that all in attendance were lucky enough to witness.

(And in that crowd was none other than veteran DDPPer Liz Mason! Welcome Back Liz! So glad to have you in the mix again!)

For all who want to know the name of that one song they can’t get out of their soul – look no further than this playlist fantasy below:

And because Rudy Toot included one of the GREATEST DDPP songs NEVER played before, here’s a little treat to remember that tasty mix by:

And thanks Rudy Tootie for that amazing song about Jenny at the end! On behalf of all the Jennys in the house last night (4 of us?!!!) – we thank you!

Ipod confusion, mix confusion…nothing can stop us from dancing

Tonight fall was in the air. Summer’s fading, and the cold is a comin’. For some reason, the colder it gets outside, the steamier it gets inside at DDPP. We welcome this hotness because we are hotness. We also welcomed another new face to the dance party! We danced to classics tonight and brought the oldies but goodies out of the a bag. We had some moments of simultaneous stomping, as well as a rendevous at the gym with Olivia (well that was just Jenn & I). At one point, I’m pretty sure we all felt like we were in Tennessee instead of Chicago. Wherever you are, whether it be in Chicago or elsewhere, all you ladies have a place to feel home…DDPP. Sorry to Toni who didn’t get to play here amazing mix (we know it’s amazing because we heard one song for 10 seconds and it blew our pants off). For this week’s mix, see below.
