DJ Elect – aka DJ Michelle Leslie Brown (aka Eulalia) prepared an absolutely joyous and beautiful mix to commemorate the history that was made in the last 24 hours. I know I was not alone when Jennifer Hudson’s voice made me teary eyed for the lead off song in class, nor was I alone when Sam Cooke did the same at the end of class.
Everyone who was in that room tonight shared something more than the typical DDPP magical connection that is dancing with ladies; we shared a moment as Americans. No matter how you voted and how you feel, it’s hard to argue that Chicago was and is the best city in the world to call home right now. May the echoes of the joy that was spread throughout this little corner of the universe reverberate with you for a long time to come. And whether you’re in a grocery store check-out line, sitting in traffic or at DDPP, may that reverberation compel you to do a little dance …or maybe just smile. It’s a good time to be alive.
