Tonight was special.
Oh yeah? Yes! Well why? I’m getting there. Hold your ADHD horses and stop getting so distracted. It’s like you have no attention span.
So tonight was special. Our DJ tonight separated the wheat from the chaff, distilled DDPP to its very essence, culled the best from her mixes and mixes of days gone by. And what transpired? For me? Near cardiac arrest. Something about Bonnie Tyler gets me into such a state that I nearly always hurt myself during Holding Out for A Hero. This time it wasn’t an ankle sprain or a hangnail, it was severe heart palpitations and shortness of breath. Which was awesome, in retrospect, and a wee bit petrifying, while happening.
Nearly everyone had one of those moments during DJ Re-Run’s (nee DJ Michelle Leslie Brown) unrelenting compilation. There were dangerous amounts of fist-pumping, borderline illegal high kicks and enough clapping to merit us having a lotion bottle on hand (as well as a first aid kit).
We became furious, livid, ENRAGED on behalf of all men who’ve had women take their black t-shirts.
We tried to help out the very congested DJ Kool by envisioning him being bathed in a pool of sky blue.
And we atony-tony toned for all of our sins from 2008. Overall, DJ Re-Run gave us a delectably sweet sympony, as the cool down song belies. She also filled us up with caramel filled chocolates. Which – now that I think about it, probably helped spur the heart attack I had during Holding Out for A Hero.
You’re our hero, DJ Re-Run. Thanks for sharing your special day with us.
